In a nation that boasts an extremely large population such as India and China, the need for eco-friendly and green technology must be an essential. Due to the large amount of people in both nations, without environmentally friendly innovations, engorged populations would not be able to survive and still be in tune with the music of the earth. Which is why, the nation of India is taking the green movement serious, by building eco-friendly structures.
For businesses in India, the green building has become a solid marketing tool, creating growth and increase revenue for many companies. With climate change looming, India has begun to take steps to help correct the problem across the country. Despite slightly higher building costs from between 5%-30%, the amount of waste saved financially from having a green building pays off this initial increased building amount. There is also a decreased energy amount spent in each building, lower the amount of electricity per month.
In 2009 there are around 50 “green” buildings in India, with several hundred more that are in the planning stages to be built in the near future. These structures will be important as many markets continue to boom in Asia. One of the first green buildings in India, Technopolis in Kolata emits 7,500 less tons of emissions every year than buildings of comparable scope.
